A while back Musketeer Miniatures released the first packs of the Irish War of Independence which are the beginnings of a series that I hope will continue to grow. Just like their line of Saxons, these are crisply sculpted with loads of character and the castings are very clean.

These figures were painted for me by Jeff Hiatt in San Jose, CA. I love his work!

Well, Bubba and Leonard were listening to some Skynard*
when the moonshine still exploded.
They fired their guns and started to run while everyone reloaded.
Jumped in the truck to go get drunk, chain guzzle a case of hot beer.
When out of nowhere there appeared a Bear** but they only hid the beer!
They got great big guns, little tiny brains!
I'm on a Redneck Rampage, tearing up the Everglades....

Girl Dawg is home and looking to recover some, man I love it when my best pup is underfoot!

It's tough when your dog is bad sick

Well, we just came home from the hospital where my dog Eddie, a Shelty, is being treated for a serious health crisis. After three days we finally got her to eat a large sweet croissant! One bit of good news in a dark week. I just want her to come home and get back to being a pest underfoot like she is supposed to be.

New Toys!!!

I recently added this Hetzer and a VW staff car to my shelves courtesy of Jeff Hiatt in San Jose, CA. Sometimes you can find his work listed on Ebay under the name of tygerhaus.

Jeff also painted a group of the Artizan Nachtjaegers for me, which I sent him on a whim. Now it seems I have caught the AE-WW2 gaming bug.

I saved the best for last with this update, a set of the Musketeer Miniatures Saxons also painted by Jeff. This unit is the centerpiece for the Saxon/Frank army I have been assembling over the last year or so.

The silly ol' fart found his way back...

After a lengthy period of not remembering where I parked this space I have returned to reclaim it. I recently had a complete system crash and as a result I lost many of my files and images (backups were corrupted too), so it seems like a good time to start afresh!

Keep a eye peeled as more interesting content shall pop up on occasion.

Underway with the Dwarven Sea Dogs

Looking for loot in all the wrong places..

Now that the masts, guns and sails are nearly done I felt that a few more pics were in order.

The masts and spars were stained with golden oak finish then a wrap of black thread was wound around the pieces then painted flat black to simulate the tarred rope woven around masts.

The sails were cut from card stock, then I laminated linen on both sides with wood glue and trimmed to shape. After several very light coats of white primer followed by painting the sails with Reaper Ivory and allowing 24 hours drying time the sails were ready to attach to the spars with heavy thread. I will add some appropriate decorations to the sails but other than that they are finished.

Look out! There's another zombie...!

As you can see, I really enjoy using detailed figures for my war gaming. These were painted by PhilGreg Studios in Sri Lanka, and I would recommend them to anybody wanting to build finely painted armies.

I can paint as well as this when I put my mind to it, but the last couple of decades have been a bit unkind to my skills. In lay men's terms, I'm slower than Christmas.

From time to time I'll post a few things, but I don't intend to live here.

Elizabethan Sea Dwarves

ARRGGHH! Ahoy matey, a new crew for me pirate ships!

These were painted by David Sheppard in the UK. This guy can paint it all, and my dwarves don't even compare.

The idea for this came about in a indirect and sort of insane way. I had been contemplating the idea of wargaming the Elizabethan period for a while when a friend gave me a couple of Osprey books I did not yet own.

The books were Elizabethan Sea Dogs (Elite 70) and Pirates 1660-1730 (Elite 67) which really got the brain into a fever. So I started putting together a couple of resin ship kits from Flagship Games http://www.flagshipgames.com/catalog-pirates.htm and next thing I know the Dwarven Sea Dog plot has been launched!

These are the first two ships of the fleet, a Sloop and a Gunboat. The masts and sails are in progress now, and I have already begun contemplating ironclads and airships......
